The Natalia Mustangs waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 52-40 win over Dilley. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Natalia also won the last time the pair played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Dilley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Benjamin Gonzales. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Dorian Aranda, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Natalia is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. As for Dilley, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-19.
Natalia will head out on the road to challenge the Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dilley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cowboys at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cotulla is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
