Sweet Springs/Malta Bend won the last time they faced Concordia, and things went their way on Friday, too. Sweet Springs/Malta Bend made easy work of Concordia and carried off a 36-12 win. Sweet Springs/Malta Bend were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Sweet Springs/Malta Bend's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 30 points in the first half. Concordia came up with 6 to make it 30-6 heading into the break. The Sweet Springs/Malta Bend defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 6 and all but finishing the match. The victory bumped their record up to 2-1. Concordia are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
Next week Sweet Springs/Malta Bend take on University Academy Charter at 7:00 PM. Concordia will stay at home against St. Paul Lutheran at 7:00 PM. Both teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
