The Heritage Eagles will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Ponderosa Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Heritage, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-40 loss to ThunderRidge. While losing is never fun, Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while ThunderRidge is ranked first).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Carter Thompson, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jonah Mayoral, who scored eight points.
Heritage struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Ponderosa fought the good fight in their overtime game against Highlands Ranch on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 68-66. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ponderosa in their matchups with Highlands Ranch: they've now lost nine in a row.
Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Ponderosa, they dropped their record down to 12-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Things could have been worse for Heritage, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-47 loss to Ponderosa in their previous meeting back in January of 2023.
