Aptos extended the longest winning streak in Santa Cruz Coast this week by beating Scotts Valley, 36-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Soquel moved up to 296 from 328 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league.
St. Francis's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Clifton threw for 101 and one touchdown and Nathaniel Ceballos had 37 yards receiving. On the ground Jonathan Carmona chipped in 26 yards. John Angelo Pezzini helped St. Francis' passing attack out by catching two balls for 33 yards.
The Sharks' Nick Ciandro and Ceballos have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Ciandro has thrown for 746 yards this season, while Ceballos, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 28 catches for 561 yards. Santa Cruz's Alex Morris leads the league in rushing yards with 399.
A big matchup in Santa Cruz Coast this week will be when Aptos takes on the Knights. Randy Blankenship's team is currently in second, while Soquel is in third.
Harbor made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,092 from 13,504.
