The Christian Academy Saints entered their tilt with the Florence Christian Eagles with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Christian Academy walked away with a 56-43 win over Florence Christian on Friday. Given Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Florence Christian is ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Green led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Leith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Florence Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dylan Greene, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Greene, who scored 11 points.
Florence Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Christian Academy pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Christian Academy pushed their record up to 15-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Florence Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Christian Academy will be playing at home against St. James at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Florence Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against King's Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
