The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Carolina Academy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Blue Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Blue Ridge suffered their closest loss since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Broome by a score of 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their defeat, Blue Ridge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nash Somero, who scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Somero is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Bradley, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Carolina Academy came up short against the Devildogs on Tuesday and fell 55-48. Carolina Academy has struggled against the Devildogs recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
This is the second loss in a row for Blue Ridge and nudges their season record down to 9-14. As for Carolina Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
Blue Ridge strolled past the Trojans in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 58-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue Ridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
