The Manitou Springs Mustangs lost against the Salida Spartans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Manitou Springs lost to Salida on the road by a decisive 58-39 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Manitou Springs has scored all season.
Salida was led to victory by Kason Westphal and Ryan Osness. Westphal dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Osness scored 17 points along with five steals. Osness has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Grant, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Manitou Springs and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Salida, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manitou Springs will take on St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (St. Mary's is ranked 216th, while Manitou Springs is ranked 203rd). As for Salida, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Colorado Springs Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
