The Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos will challenge the McCutcheon Mavericks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lafayette Jefferson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Lafayette Jefferson lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Richmond, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's contest. The Bronchos' pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bronchos considering their two-run performance the game before.

Lafayette Jefferson got a great performance from Talan Meyers as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Meyers a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leyton Corbin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Alonzo Clawson-Smith was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lafayette Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richmond only posted an OBP of .062.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between McCutcheon and West Lafayette, and McCutcheon kept the tradition alive. The Mavericks walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Red Devils on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won eight in a row.
Chance Henderson looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Mekyel Almond was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of McCutcheon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brennan Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lafayette Jefferson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for McCutcheon, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11.
Lafayette Jefferson took their victory against McCutcheon when the teams last played on May 6th by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will the Bronchos repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
