Softball Recap: Homewood Wins Going Away Against Briarwood Christian

Homewood's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Briarwood Christian Lions. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by nine runs or more this season.

Anne Hope Howell looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Homewood let Allie Stuman and Mia Gonzalez run wild. Stuman went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Gonzalez scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Madison Letson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Homewood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Briarwood Christian, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homewood will head out to challenge Minor at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Briarwood Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against Shelby County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
