Even though the Burbank Bulldogs scored an imposing 73 points on Friday, the Burroughs Bears still came out on top. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Burroughs made off with a 74-73 victory over Burbank. Given Burroughs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Burbank is ranked 883rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burroughs got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Landon Everhart out in front who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Everhart continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Kardosh, who scored 27 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Burbank still got an impressive performance from Odartey Blankson, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 15 rebounds. Blankson hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Dehbashian, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Burroughs and bumps their season record up to 13-9. As for Burbank, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.
Burroughs will head out on the road to face off against Arcadia at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Arcadia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three games. As for Burbank, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Glendale at 5:15 p.m. One thing working in Glendale's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
