Piedmont Community Charter waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over the Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats. Considering the Patriots have won six games by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Bree Phillips made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and two doubles. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Evangeline East was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Ayanna Meeks was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1.
