After a string of three wins, the Hickory Flat Rebels's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 60-48 to Tremont. Hickory Flat was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tremont apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tremont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Saige Black, who scored 19 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Black posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Gillespie, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Hickory Flat's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Tremont, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hickory Flat will take on Myrtle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Myrtle is ranked 172nd, while Hickory Flat is ranked 157th). As for Tremont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wheeler at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Rebekah Mason and Paige Gillespie.
