Woodbury has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Gloucester City Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Woodbury will be strutting in after a win while Gloucester City will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Woodbury escaped with a win against West Deptford by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The victory was just what Woodbury needed coming off of a 73-38 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Gloucester City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Haddon Heights. That's two games in a row now that Gloucester City has lost by exactly four points.
Despite their loss, Gloucester City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ryan James, who scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Flagg, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Gloucester City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Woodbury's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9. As for Gloucester City, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Woodbury came up short against Gloucester City when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 40-28. Can Woodbury avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
