After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northside - Pinetown, the Southside Seahawks were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They came out on top against North East Carolina Prep by a score of 54-47.
It was another big night for Joshua Armstrong, who scored 24 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Southside's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Satchell, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, North East Carolina Prep saw an underclassman step up: CHADWICK BARNES dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. BARNES is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was CICERE LANCASTER, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, North East Carolina Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Southside's victory bumped their record up to 3-12. As for North East Carolina Prep, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Southside will play host again and welcome the Mariners, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in East Carteret's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for North East Carolina Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
