The St. John Paul II Catholic Lions took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-19 victory over Highland Prep. That's another feather in the cap for St. John Paul II Catholic, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
St. John Paul II Catholic can attribute much of their success to Isabel Sesmas, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Several Honey Badgers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kendra Ibeh, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
St. John Paul II Catholic's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Highland Prep, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John Paul II Catholic will challenge Chandler Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Highland Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Phoenix Christian at 5:30 p.m. on December 7th. Phoenix Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
