The Villa Grove Blue Devils posted their biggest victory since November 24, 2023 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Heritage 71-34 at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Villa Grove had established a 26 point advantage.
Despite the loss, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: Rylan White scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 50% of Heritage's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Struck, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Villa Grove and bumps their season record up to 11-8. As for Heritage, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
Villa Grove won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Okaw Valley at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Okaw Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 309 points over their last four matchups. As for Heritage, they will take on Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
