Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Escambia walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Choctawhatchee Indians on Wednesday. Considering the Gators have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Clayton Sanders made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Taivyn Anderson was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
The win (which was Escambia's tenth in a row) raised their record to 21-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Choctawhatchee, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.
As of now, neither Escambia nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
