Baseball Recap: Kennedy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Kennedy not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024. They put the hurt on the Hinkley Thunder with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Commanders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Eric Valenzuela was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Valenzuela was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Adrian Montoya was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Damian Ortiz was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Hinkley, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennedy will head out to square off against Bruce Randolph at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. This will be the Commanders' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Hinkley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Northglenn at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Thunder are facing the Norsemen at the right time seeing as the Norsemen are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
