Softball Recap: Licking Wins Going Away Against Steelville

It was a proper cat-fight when Licking faced off against Steelville on Thursday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 11-1 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Kimree Brazier was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Aubrey Gorman and Zoey Dawson did most of the damage at the plate: Gorman went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Dawson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Gorman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mya Rinne, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Licking always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steelville only posted an OBP of .200.

Licking's record now sits at 13-9. As for Steelville, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

As of now, neither Licking nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
