In what's become a running theme this season, the Pickens Blue Flame gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-22 victory over Berea at home. Winning may never get old, but Pickens sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Pickens was led to victory by Maggie Chambers and Ava Owens. Chambers scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Owens scored 21 points along with six steals and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least a third of Pickens' points. Another player making a difference was Ella Harned, who scored six points.
Pickens' win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Berea, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
Pickens will head out on the road to challenge Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenwood's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Pickens' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Berea, they will be playing at home against Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westside will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
