Baseball Recap: Olympian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Olympian waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Windward Wildcats as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Luis Mercado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, Sebastian Diaz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nico Cintron, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Olympian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Olympian pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Windward, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Coming up, Olympian will look to defend their home field on Monday against Otay Ranch at 3:30 p.m. As for Windward, they will venture away from home to face off against Brentwood School at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
