The Palmer Ridge Bears's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Broomfield Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on November 25th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Palmer Ridge had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Heritage on Friday as Palmer Ridge made off with a 28-7 victory. With Palmer Ridge ahead 21-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
It was another big night for Derek Hester, who rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 104 yards and a touchdown. Hester was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Wright, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Broomfield waltzed into Saturday's game with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 38-6 win over Mesa Ridge. Broomfield pushed the score to 31-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Mesa Ridge had little chance of recovering from.
Broomfield can attribute much of their success to Brent Harris, who gained 110 total yards and a touchdown, and CT Worley, who rushed for 24 yards and two touchdowns.
Palmer Ridge's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Broomfield, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Palmer Ridge commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Broomfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 per game.
