This season hasn't been kind to the Marshall Owls, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mexico on Tuesday. Marshall has not had much luck with Mexico recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Several Owls players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katarina Simic, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Simic's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Haylee Lent, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mexico, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Marshall will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moberly at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Moberly presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Marshall in Missouri (Moberly is ranked 59th, while Marshall is ranked 364th). As for Mexico, they will head out on the road to face off against Kirksville at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
