The Springfield Yellow Jackets suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Clarksville, falling 69-35. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Clarksville is ranked 25th).
Despite the loss, Springfield saw an underclassman step up: Shemauria Pope scored 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Amaya Walker, who scored nine points.
Springfield's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9. As for Clarksville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kirkwood at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Kirkwood is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Clarksville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Dickson County at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
