The Lake Brantley Patriots had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They strolled past Lyman with points to spare, taking the game 59-45. Given Lake Brantley's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Lyman is ranked 459th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Brantley was led to victory by Princeton Gordon and Landen Paquette. Gordon dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Paquette scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Paquette hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Lewis, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Lyman still got an impressive performance from Max Mattingly, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Brock Masters was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Lake Brantley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Lyman, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Brantley will square off against Boone at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Boone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday. As for Lyman, they will head out on the road to take on Lake Howell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
