Baseball Recap: Bluffton Wins Going Away Against Ottoville

Bluffton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Ottoville on Wednesday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Big Green. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Landen Worcester was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Bluffton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Luke Jebsen was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Bluffton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Quinn Eachus was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Bluffton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Bluffton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Ottoville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Coming up, Bluffton will face off against Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ottoville, they will challenge Pandora-Gilboa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Big Green are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
