Raymondville and Rio Hondo are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bearkats will head out on the road to challenge the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Rio Hondo will be up against a hot Raymondville team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went the Bearkats' way against Progreso on Monday as they made off with a 15-1 win.

Meanwhile, Rio Hondo got themselves on the board against Santa Rosa on Tuesday, but Santa Rosa never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Warriors. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won nine in a row.

Madison Lopez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Danielle Rocha was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olga Zuniga, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Rio Hondo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .608 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Raymondville's record is now 7-12. As for Rio Hondo, their record now sits at 6-10.

Raymondville came out on top in a nail-biter against Rio Hondo in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 20-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearkats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
