Kaylee Schmitt was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, South Spencer got a massive performance out of Alexis Harris, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Drema Howe, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
South Spencer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crawford County only posted an OBP of .296.
Meanwhile, Evansville Central fell victim to Mt. Carmel and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 17-0 to the Golden Aces. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Having lost for the first time this season, Evansville Central fell to 2-1. As for South Spencer, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Spencer has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Evansville Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
South Spencer might still be hurting after the 15-4 loss they got from Evansville Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
