The Palm Harbor University Hurricanes will take on the Osceola Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Osceola will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Palm Harbor University extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Hurricanes were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Canterbury.
Mylie Stout and Ainsley Berard did most of the damage at the plate: Stout scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Berard scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Berard has posted since back in February. Brooklyn Conrad was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Palm Harbor University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canterbury only posted an OBP of .381.
Meanwhile, while Osceola put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Tarpon Springs. The Warriors put the hurt on the Spongers with a sharp 15-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Theresa Diez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Jenna Neupaver was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Carter, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Palm Harbor University pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Osceola, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both Palm Harbor University and Osceola just can't seem to miss. The Hurricanes have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Osceola struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palm Harbor University skirted past Osceola 11-9 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Hurricanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
