The Seymour Eagles will face off against the Heritage Mountaineers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Heritage will be up against a hot Seymour team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles blew past Morristown-Hamblen West 13-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted against the Trojans since April 20, 2021.

Coby Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Seymour let Reagan Patterson and Miller Elijah run wild. Patterson went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Elijah went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Patterson has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Heritage waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Cherokees with a sharp 12-2 win.
Derek Hodge looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Hughes, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Evan Webb, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Seymour's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-12. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their record is now 21-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Seymour has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Seymour might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Heritage in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
