Central is 0-3 against Willard since August of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Central Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Willard Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Willard is ranked 70th).
Central pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Forsyth 65-35. Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Willard lost to Carthage on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin on Friday.
Despite the loss, Willard got a solid performance out of Russell Roweton, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 165 yards and a touchdown. Roweton was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Willard, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Central was dealt a bruising 51-6 loss at the hands of Willard in their previous meeting back in October of 2020. Can Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
