Culleoka made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Collinwood, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Culleoka's way against Collinwood on Monday as Culleoka made off with a 12-2 win. Considering the Warriors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Coltin Butler was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gavin Sartwell, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Culleoka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Collinwood only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Moore County's offense. They fell just short of Cornersville by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Raiders' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Moore County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brantley Hill, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Luke Stephens also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Moore County's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Culleoka, they moved to 1-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Culleoka has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Moore County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Culleoka might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Moore County when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Culleoka avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
