The Van Vleck Leopards will head out on the road to square off against the Brazos Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Van Vleck came out on top against Hitchcock on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Leopards' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Leopards.
The team relied heavily on Kylie Sazera, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ierial Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brazos was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Boling with a sharp 14-6 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ava Aguilar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brazos got a massive performance out of Abigail Danford, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Clarissa Almaraz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Van Vleck's record is now 13-5. As for Brazos, their record now sits at 12-9.
Van Vleck beat Brazos 4-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Do the Leopards have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
