The Chandler Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Mountain View Toros at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Chandler turned things around against Kofa on Thursday. They blew past the Kings 18-3. The Wolves not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 10th.
Isabelle Ashike Osorio was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Ashike Osorio was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one double.
In other batting news, Chandler got a massive performance out of Cian Noli, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-6. That's the most hits Noli has posted since back in April of 2024. Lily Kolsrud was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Chandler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kofa only posted an OBP of .276.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain View). They put the hurt on Mesa with a sharp 20-1 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Toros.
Mountain View also got a great performance from Brenna Campos as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Tierah Metcalf was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Dylan Davis also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Mountain View's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Chandler, their record is now 8-11.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chandler hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chandler might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Mountain View in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Chandler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
