The Strom Thurmond Rebels will challenge the Midland Valley Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Strom Thurmond came up short against American Leadership Academy and fell 9-6. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lawsyn Lowe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addyson Harrison, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Midland Valley had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They blew past the Eagles 15-2. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.
Larue Hicks spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jordan Nelson, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Anslee Heath was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Midland Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matchups.
Strom Thurmond's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Midland Valley, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Strom Thurmond hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Midland Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Strom Thurmond couldn't quite finish off Midland Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2025 and fell 6-4. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
