Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Weston Schaal, who posted nine points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four). Darian Mcdonough was another key player, putting up seven points.
Even though they lost, Burlington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Genoa-Hugo/Karval played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 70-18 defeat at the hands of Byers. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-10.
Burlington will have to keep a close watch on Eddy Franey and Tehgan Seymour, a pair of players who had a big impact on Genoa-Hugo/Karval's prior game. Franey put up 11 points and five rebounds, while Seymour scored two points.
Genoa-Hugo/Karval's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Burlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Burlington has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Genoa-Hugo/Karval struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
