On Thursday, the Clovis Wildcats faced the Mayfield Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Clovis took down Mayfield 45-29. The win was just business as usual for Clovis, who after five games remain undefeated this season.
Zarai Lewis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aspen Ulibarri, who scored four points along with three steals.
Mayfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ceanna Mckines, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Jazlene Ruiz, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Clovis' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Mayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
