Basketball Recap: Weslaco Beats Lopez for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Weslaco strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 74-49 margin over the Lopez Lobos. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season.

Weslaco got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kai L Fino out in front who shot 56% from the field en route to 11 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. That's the most steals L Fino has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of JD Martinez, who went 7-for-8 on his way to 15 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Weslaco was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Weslaco's win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Looking ahead, Weslaco will venture away from home to challenge Alexander at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lopez, they will take on Johnson in a tournament on Thursday.
