In what's become a running theme this season, the Cross Trojans gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 58-36 margin over St. John. The win was nothing new for Cross as they're now sitting on four straight.
Cross' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauren Middleton, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Middleton pulled down eight or more rebounds. Zhania Fredricks was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
St. John's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kaniya Smith, who scored 14 points along with six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Daeshia Buford, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Cross' victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for St. John's, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Cross will be playing at home against Military Magnet Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Military Magnet Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 657 points over their last seven games. As for St. John's, they will head out on the road to take on Burke at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
