Baseball Recap: Master's Academy Wins Going Away Against Geneva

Master's Academy won against Cornerstone Charter Academy last Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Eagles' way against the Geneva Knights as they made off with a 10-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Julian Mercado made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Mercado was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other pitching news, Preston Toth looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Trey Seluk was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cy Smith, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Master's Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Master's Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Geneva, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Master's Academy will take on Trinity Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Geneva, they will face off against Cornerstone Charter Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights are facing the Ducks at the right time seeing as the Ducks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
