After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chambersburg, the State College Little Lions were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 48-40 win over Central Dauphin East. That's another feather in the cap for State College, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
State College was led to victory by Reed Melvin and Ty Salazer. Melvin scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Salazer scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Xion Nichols, who scored eight points.
State College's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6. As for Central Dauphin East, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. State College will challenge Altoona at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Altoona is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Central Dauphin East, they will head out on the road to face off against Cumberland Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cumberland Valley is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.
