Eneria Quintana and Yazmin Molina were among the main playmakers for Sierra Grande as the former went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals and the latter posted four points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Quintana has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last five times she's played. Audrianna Gerardo also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Sierra Grande smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Moffat was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 27-21 to Non Varsity Opponent.
Sierra Grande will have to keep a close watch on Kandra Pollard and Madison Payne, a pair of players who had a big impact on Moffat's prior game. Pollard dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards, while Payne earned no points.
Sierra Grande has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Moffat, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sierra Grande has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Moffat struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
