It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Fremont Eagles had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past the Cougars 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Fremont has posted since December 21, 2023.
Despite the loss, Central Noble saw an underclassman step up: Grace Swank almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Swank is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Melissa McCoy was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
The victory (which was Fremont's fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Central Noble, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.
Fremont and Lewis Cass will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Lewis Cass focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday. Central Noble does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
