After a string of 36 wins dating back to last season, the Lancaster Red Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Buckhannon-Upshur 43-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lancaster has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lancaster still got an impressive performance from Troy Henderson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Henderson's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Davion Smith was another key contributor, scoring three points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buckhannon-Upshur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ian Strader, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Jerin Westfall, who scored nine points.
Lancaster's loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-1. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lancaster and Northampton will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Northampton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Wednesday. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they will head out on the road to face off against North Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
