Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the Souderton Indians couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost to the Whippets at home by a decisive 34-17 margin on Friday. Souderton's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Souderton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Danny Dyches, who picked up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Ryan Sadowski who rushed for 93 yards on only ten carries. Sadowski was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Downingtown West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinn Henicle led the charge by rushing for 17 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 199 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes. Another player making a difference was Dean Hangey, who picked up 194 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Souderton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Downingtown West, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.
Souderton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Downingtown West will head out on the road to face off against Downingtown East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Downingtown East will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
