Baseball Recap: Gallup Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Capital, Gallup was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Miyamura Patriots, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bengals have posted since March 1st.

Tyrick Young and Chase Blackgoat made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Young tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Blackgoat struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. At the plate, Young scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances, while Blackgoat scored three runs and stole six bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Blackgoat a new career-high.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Truitt Lewis, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Gallup moved to 3-10 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Miyamura, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Gallup didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-11 defeat against Kirtland Central on the 3rd. As for Miyamura, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-3 loss against Aztec on the 3rd.
