The Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Beacon 85-50 at home. Monroe-Woodbury's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Monroe-Woodbury's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Pearson, who scored 28 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Pearson posted two or more blocks. Jayden Desir was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Monroe-Woodbury pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Beacon, they have fallen quite a ways from their 15-7 record last season and are now at 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe-Woodbury will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ellenville at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. One thing working in Ellenville's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Beacon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monticello at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Monticello is ranked 384th, while Beacon is ranked 377th).
