The Nickerson Panthers's 16-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They skirted past St. John 49-46. Nickerson's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Nickerson to victory were Riley Brawner and Alex King. Brawner dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while King scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season.
St. John's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quade smith, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Alpers, who scored 12 points.
Nickerson's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-7. As for St. John, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nickerson will take on Larned at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. John, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Macksville at 8:00 p.m. Macksville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
