The Chapman Panthers lost against the Walhalla Razorbacks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Chapman fell 64-51 to Walhalla. While losing is never fun, Chapman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Walhalla is ranked 31st).
When it comes to explaining why Chapman lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kara Twitty. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points. Twitty scored a full 47.1% of Chapman's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Krislyn Wilder, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
It was another big night for Gianna Ortiz-Viera, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds for Walhalla. Ortiz-Viera continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Breanna Hunnicutt was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Chapman's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Walhalla, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chapman won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Palmetto at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. Palmetto is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Walhalla won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pickens at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. Pickens is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
