Andrew May made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Village Tech: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Village Tech let Angel Ontiveros and Preston Ross run wild. Ontiveros got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Ross got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Ontiveros has posted since back in April of 2024. Alessandro Ontiveros was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Village Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Keene ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Trinity Leadership. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.
Village Tech pushed their record up to 6-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Keene, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.
Village Tech took their win against Keene in their previous meeting on April 1st by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Viper Squid repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
